Guide notes- Role
- Shield-powered Warrior carry — convert Shields into AoE finish damage
- Best for
- Boards that can feed Kai Shields (Warrior / Shield relics) and want a mid-front bruiser who also clears packs
- Strength
- Resolute Strike turns leftover Shields into bonus damage, so defense and offense come from the same resource
- Weakness
- Without Shield sources he is just a slow melee; dies to focus if you place him as a pure tank without sustain

How to play
Decision notes for shops and formation — not a copy of the in-game panel.
Early
He can open as your front-mid if you immediately buy Shield or Defense pieces. Do not leave him naked on the engage tile for three fights.
Mid
Decide the Rank B path: Unstoppable (more Shields → more Attack), Bold (faster / wider strike + Defense Shields), or Intrepid (Rush Crit / Warrior shred). Itemize to that path.
Late
Stack Shield generation and keep casting Resolute Strike every fight. Bloodshield / Aegis-style Warrior relics are higher priority than random Attack.
Positioning
Front-mid, not isolated wing. He wants enemies around him when the delayed strike lands.

Ranks C → S
Draft a duplicate or use an eligible campfire event to rank up. Art below shows each rank portrait for Kai.

Rank C
Base kit — the active ability is equipped and the starting stat line applies.
- C — start with the active ability and base kit.
- B — lock one of three specialization paths.
- A / S — take the rank stat package, then draft class modifiers.
Abilities
Kit text from the Demo dump, plus short notes on how to play around each ability.
Active

Resolute Strike
activeCharge up a mighty attack, gaining 4 (+ 400% Attack , + 250% Magic ) Shields. After 2.5 seconds, deal 1 per 4 Attack damage plus bonus damage equal to Kai's remaining Shields to surrounding enemies.
In practice: The delay is the skill: you win if he still has Shields when the hit lands. Protect him for those ~2.5 seconds or the bonus damage evaporates.
Passives

The Unstoppable
passiveGain 1 (+ 0% Attack )% more Shields from all sources. Whenever Kai gains Shields, he also gains 60% rank Attack.
In practice: Shield loops are the point: itemize to cast often and add Shield synergy relics.

The Bold
passiveResolute Strike hits 1 second faster and affects a larger area. On cast, gain 1 per 30 Defense lasting Shields.
In practice: Shield loops are the point: itemize to cast often and add Shield synergy relics.

The Intrepid
passiveFor Rush (1), gain 1 (+ 100% Crit ). Whenever a Warrior Crits reduce their target's Defense by 6 (+ 0% rank ). Backup.
In practice: Play around Rush windows: pair Rush relics and do not expect burst before the threshold.
Specializations
Rank B paths that reshape how Kai scales through a run.

The Unstoppable
Gain 1 (+ 0% Attack )% more Shields from all sources. Whenever Kai gains Shields, he also gains 60% rank Attack.
When to pick: Default carry path when Shield relics are flowing — every Shield gain also pumps Attack.

The Bold
Resolute Strike hits 1 second faster and affects a larger area. On cast, gain 1 per 30 Defense lasting Shields.
When to pick: Take when you want faster casts and a bigger smash, and you can stack Defense for lasting Shields on cast.

The Intrepid
For Rush (1), gain 1 (+ 100% Crit ). Whenever a Warrior Crits reduce their target's Defense by 6 (+ 0% rank ). Backup.
When to pick: Take with Rush / Crit Warrior boards. Backup-friendly shred path — better in multi-Warrior comps than solo Kai.

Relics that overlap Warrior keywords and Kai's ability tags. Top matches include a short “why”.

Warrior's Sundering Filigree
For Rush (8), whenever a Warrior Crits an enemy reduce the enemy's Defense by 1.

FAQ
Common questions when this hero shows up in the shop or draft.
Is Kai good in Guildrun?
Strong when Shield economy is real. Weak as a naked early pickup with no Defense/Shield plan. If the shop gives Aegis/Bloodshield pieces, he spikes hard.
What class is Kai?
Warrior. Role focus: shield-powered melee who converts remaining Shields into AoE damage.
What relics work with Kai?
Warrior Shield / Bloodshield engines, Aegis banners, and martial amplifiers. Prioritize Shield generation over pure Crit unless you took Intrepid.
How do you play Kai?
Stack Shields, stand him where packs clump, cast Resolute Strike, and pick Unstoppable if you want the simplest scaling loop.
Tips
- Watch the cast: if he burns Shields before the strike, fix positioning or buy more Shield gen — do not just buy Attack.
- Intrepid wants friends. Solo Kai usually prefers Unstoppable or Bold.
